John and his team have worked incredibly hard to transform our garden and yard over the last week, rain or shine (Mainly rain) they've been out there all day Monday-Sunday, regardless of what the weather threw at them.

My elderly mother lives with us and was immediately put at ease by John and his team, they were really fantastic with her.

After being let down by so many other companies we were wary of the process, but from first giving us a quote until the completion of the job John has dealt with everything, answered all of our various questions and has ensured that we got exactly what we wanted, we couldn't be more pleased with the result.

Just over 12 weeks ago we had a large area of block paving carried out by S&S driveways. We chose S&S because of their reputation and thought they would do a good job with care and attention. On the second day of work, they smashed a very large and expensive window on our brand-new barn conversion, which was extremely stressful and upsetting. 30 minutes after smashing the window they told us they had to increase their written quote saying they had made a mistake in pricing the job.
Within 4 weeks from completion of the driveway was sinking. 4 driveway companies have inspected the work and all have said the sand layer is far too deep and is not supporting the block pavers. It is up to 100mm deep when it should be a maximum of 45mm. Now the drive is sinking where we are driving and even the step has sunk where we are walking and the pavers below the step have also sunk where we step down. Water is puddling in multiple areas across the drive. They have not completed the work correctly as the height of the drive is incorrect and does not meet the patio window height correctly. It is totally obvious the drive has not been done correctly as our other drive which is nearly 10 years old is better than the new drive. Both drives were done by S&S.
S&S have offered to top up the sand layer under the blocks to fix the sinking patches even though the sand layer is wrong already. S&S told us that any materials damaged redoing the work are our responsibility to pay for. This seems unreasonable as the reason for redoing the drive is because the work done by S&S is sub-standard.
The only explanation we can think of for the whole situation is that after S&S smashed the window, they then tried to do the job as quickly as possible and not at their normal standards. The thought of having S&S back to do more work fills us full of dread. We need the driveway taking up and relaying with correct base & sand layer so that it does not get even worse.
It is obvious that S&S can do a good job for people but they have not done a good job here. Due to the attitude of S&S who only want to top up the sand layer, not admitting they have made a lot of mistakes, and saying we have to buy for the materials we only want communication in writing from S&S. We have written to them 3 times by recorded mail and had no response.

I had my drive removed and re done using block paving, also had adjoining lawn and shrubs removed and gravelled over.

S&S Driveways did a great job, no mess, professional and experienced at what they do, turned up each day and got to work whatever the weather.

The finished job looks superb and I cannot recommend them enough as these lads know exactly what they are doing and do it well.

We are extremely happy at the finished job done by John and his lads.
